One Swedish logistics operation for your expansion
A company entering Sweden or the Nordics from abroad usually needs more than storage space. Goods need a clear import setup, a receiving process, reliable inventory data and an outbound model that works for your customers. The role of the 3PL is to run the physical warehouse operation around that commercial and customs setup.
- Inbound and storage – pallets, cartons or containerised goods received into a structured Swedish warehouse flow.
- B2B and B2C – one inventory for wholesale, retail replenishment and direct-to-consumer orders, where your operating model supports it.
- Systems and visibility – your webshop, ERP and shipping tools connected to Ongoing WMS, so stock and order status move between systems.
What Karlholm handles – and what needs specialist advice
Karlholm Logistics focuses on the physical warehouse and fulfillment operation. Customs representation, importer of record responsibilities, VAT registration and legal establishment are separate questions that must be confirmed for your business model with the appropriate advisers. Our warehouse process is then designed around the setup you choose.
| Party | Typical responsibility |
|---|---|
| You (goods owner) | Ownership of the goods, tax setup, sales and instructions for stock |
| Customs broker / representative | Customs declarations and representation |
| Freight forwarder | International transport and the final leg to our warehouse |
| Karlholm Logistics | Receiving, storage, picking, packing, dispatch and returns after the agreed handover |
How to get started
- Define the markets and sales channels you want to launch first.
- Confirm the legal, VAT, customs and importer setup with your advisers and customs partners.
- Prepare product master data, SKU structure, barcodes and inbound requirements.
- Connect your sales or ERP systems to the warehouse workflow.
- Move launch inventory to Sweden and reconcile the opening stock.
- Start fulfillment, and expand to more markets and channels once the flow is stable.
Typical scope of the setup
| Area | What it means |
|---|---|
| Inbound | Pallet, carton or container receiving and warehouse registration. |
| Storage | Inventory held in Sweden and made available for agreed sales channels. |
| Fulfillment | Pick, pack and dispatch for B2B and/or B2C order profiles. |
| Returns | Returned products received, inspected and routed according to agreed rules – see returns management. |
| Integration | Order, product, stock and status flows between your systems and Ongoing WMS – see integrations. |
Is Sweden the right location?
Sweden should not be presented as the automatically best warehouse location for every European strategy. A Swedish stock makes most sense when Swedish customers – and possibly the other Nordic countries – are important markets for you. When you contact us, share your origin country, target markets, product profile, expected pallet and SKU volumes, sales channels and current systems. We can then discuss the physical 3PL setup in Sweden and the interfaces your customs, tax and freight partners need to connect to.

Frequently asked questions
Can a company outside the EU use a Swedish 3PL?
Yes. The warehouse relationship can be set up for a foreign goods owner, but customs, VAT and importer responsibilities must be correctly established for the planned transactions.
Do we need our own Swedish warehouse lease?
No. In a 3PL model the logistics provider operates the warehouse process instead of you building your own operation.
Can the same stock serve several countries?
Operationally, one Swedish stock can support several markets. Tax, customs, delivery and channel rules still need to be mapped for each sales model, and the transport options to each country are agreed during onboarding.
Do you handle customs clearance?
No. Customs representation, importer of record responsibilities and VAT registration are separate from the warehouse service. We work with the setup you agree with your customs broker and advisers.
